[ARCHIVED] Board of Trustees Nominations

Nominations

Nominations are now being accepted from WACO members who wish to be included in the slate of candidates for the WACO Board of Trustees. The election of officers and board members will be held during the 60th Annual WACO Conference at the Historic Davenport in Spokane October 2-4.

Any WACO member is eligible to run for a WACO Officer position (President, Vice President, Second Vice-President or Secretary-Treasurer) or as a Trustee-at-large to represent their county population category. Though nominations will be accepted for any position up for election, tradition is that officers move up through the chairs so usually only the Secretary-Treasurer is contested among the officers. Travel expenses for WACO officers and Trustees to attend WACO Board of Trustee meetings, other than the Annual WACO Conference, are paid by WACO.

The following positions are open for election this year:

  1. President
  2. Vice-President
  3. Second Vice President
  4. Secretary-Treasurer
  5. Trustee-at-large Position 1 (county population over 1,000,000)
  6. Trustee-at-large Position 3 (county population from 100,001 to 400,000)
  7. Trustee-at-large Position 5 (county population from 20,000 to 50,000)

Officer positions are one-year terms, Trustee at large positions are two-year terms.  Terms run from installation at the Conference.

Please consider running for a position on the Board of Trustees! We welcome and need your participation to keep WACO strong!

The nomination process is as follows:

  • Any WACO member interested in being nominated must submit a letter of intent, a resume, and answer the online questions by September 10 using the online form. Current officers and trustees who are seeking another term must also self-nominate.
  • The Nominating Committee will meet by conference call to review nominations and if appropriate finalize the slate of candidates.
  • All WACO members will receive information about each candidate and a copy of the Nominating Committee’s report prior to or at the conference.
  • During the initial WACO business meeting, the WACO Nominating Committee will present the slate of candidates to the membership and call for nominations from the floor.
  • WACO members may then cast their ballots.  The times for casting ballots will be announced during the conference. Proxy voting is prohibited by the WACO Bylaws.
  • The Nominating Committee will tabulate the election results immediately following the closing of the polls and the new officers and Board members will be sworn into office at the conference if possible.

WACO has traditionally operated with candidates self-nominating. If you know of someone who would make an outstanding WACO Board member we encourage you to talk to that person and encourage them to self-nominate. Suggestions of possible candidates are welcomed by the Nominating Committee as well.
