The Washington State Association of County Officials Honor State Senator Sam Hunt

The Washington Association of County Officials (WACO) recognized Senator Hunt for his support of local government.

OLYMPIA – The Washington Association of County Officials (WACO) presented Senator Sam Hunt of the 22nd legislative district with their Legislator of the Year Award. The award was presented to the Senator in recognition of his steadfast support of local government during a challenging session defined by Covid-19’s impact on the state.

Senator Hunt was on hand to receive the award during the 63rd annual Washington Association of County Officials conference held at the Hotel Murano in Tacoma, Wash. Outgoing WACO President, Kittitas County Prosecutor Greg Zempel noted that, “Not only has Senator Hunt been a champion of local government during this past difficult session, but has long made it clear to his colleagues the importance of local government to their communities.”

During the conference, WACO also presented the Legislative Committee Award to Benton County Clerk Josie Delvin in recognition of excellence in advocating policies on behalf of WACO during the course of the 2021 legislative session; the Education Committee Award to Adams County Treasurer Kayla Meise for her role in developing ongoing training curricula for elected county officials; and two honorary awards were presented.
