Updated COVID-19 Recovery Resources
As summer approaches and Washington’s vaccination rollout increases, it finally feels like we may have turned a corner. Although counties must keep their guard up, and keep COVID19 measures in place, it does seem that we are shifting our focus from response to recovery.
WACO has now added resources on our COVID19 resource page to assist County Officials with accessing recovery materials.
First, although we are slowly recovering from the COVID19 pandemic, things are still able to backtrack. Just recently the Governor announced that three counties (Cowlitz, Pierce, and Whitman) are not meeting the Phase 3 metrics and will roll back to Phase 2 effective Friday, April 16. The other 36 counties will remain in Phase 3, and all counties will be reevaluated again (full post here). As the Governor counties to monitor counties and issue proclamations, you can find the link to Governor Inslee’s proclamations and State Guidance here via MRSC.
Second, as a major victory for counties across the nation, the State and Local Coronavirus Recovery fund legislation was signed into law by President Biden on March 11th, 2021. The bill included $65.1 billion in direct, flexible aid to every county in America. Currently NACo has listed the projected allocations for counties from the US Treasury. You can access the chart by clicking on State and Local Recovery Funds with our page. In addition to NACo’s recovery fund page, we’ve also linked their County Responses page which hosts information from “How Counties Are Investing Coronavirus Relief Fund Payments” to the current vaccination distributions for all counties across America.
Third, we continue to keep an eye out for articles and blogposts that are relevant to County Officials and their job functions. Recently we included an article addressing vaccination hesitancy in public employees. To access it click, here.
